Your Personal Reno Diary: Follow Along as We Revamp Fixer-Upper Homes Near You

Introduction:

Are you captivated by the potential hidden within those charming, slightly dilapidated homes in your neighborhood? We are too! This blog will document our journey as we revitalize fixer-upper houses near you, transforming them into stunning, modern living spaces. Follow along as we share our design choices, challenges overcome, and the rewarding process of bringing these homes back to life. We’ll provide regular updates, photos, and even videos, giving you an inside look at the entire renovation process.

Project 1: The Victorian on Elm Street

This beautiful Victorian home, located just down the street from the bakery, presented a unique set of challenges. The exterior boasted stunning architectural details, sadly obscured by years of neglect. The interior? Let’s just say it needed a lot of love. Our initial assessment revealed significant issues with the foundation, outdated plumbing, and electrical systems.

Phase 1: Foundation and Structural Repairs:

Before we could even think about aesthetics, we had to address the structural integrity. This involved significant foundation work, including stabilizing cracks and replacing damaged sections. This phase took longer than anticipated, but a solid foundation is crucial for a lasting renovation.

Phase 2: Plumbing and Electrical Upgrades:

Outdated plumbing and electrical systems presented significant safety concerns. We completely replaced the plumbing, installing new pipes and fixtures to ensure efficiency and safety. The electrical system received a comprehensive upgrade, with new wiring, updated panels, and modern fixtures.

Phase 3: Interior Design and Renovation:

With the structural foundation in place, the fun began! Our design vision for this Victorian home centers around preserving its original charm while incorporating modern amenities. We’ve opted for a blend of traditional and contemporary styles, using a neutral color palette with pops of color and texture. We’ll share regular updates on our choices for flooring, cabinetry, countertops, and lighting. We are especially excited about the transformation of the original sunroom!

Project 2: The Mid-Century Modern on Oak Avenue

Our second project is a mid-century modern gem on Oak Avenue. While structurally sound, this home requires a complete interior overhaul. The focus will be on highlighting the original architectural features, including the large windows and open floor plan. We will be implementing eco-friendly materials and sustainable practices throughout this project.

Phase 1: Kitchen and Bathroom Remodels:

The kitchen and bathrooms are undergoing a complete transformation. We’re incorporating sleek, modern cabinetry, energy-efficient appliances, and luxurious fixtures. The bathrooms are getting a spa-like makeover with updated shower systems and stylish vanities.
